Valley Wins 2011 RNWS
Team Valley scored 5 runs in the top of the eighth inning to win a very tight championship game 8-5 over Team North Bay Monday night at Klein Family Field. The championship game capped a great weekend of baseball which was highlighted by the very deep and talented pitching staffs from each team. This year’s RNWS had 13 pitchers touch 90MPH or above. Over and over again college coaches and professional scouts commented that this year’s RNWS was the most talented event they have seen in Northern California in years.
Some of the highlights included
Pitcher of the tournament Steven Farinaro (2013 Head Royce RHP) showing a 92mph fastball with heavy movement and a 76-78 mph breaking ball.
Austin Fairchild (2012 St. Thomas TX LHP) showing an explosive fastball at 93 mph with typical LHP run.
Carlos Salazar (2013 Kerman RHP) showing a 91mph fastball consistently for three innings.
Left handed pitchers and high school teammates Zack Aukus and Robert Daugherty (Pioneer) showing mid to upper 80’s fast balls and wipeout breaking balls.
Josh Miguel (2012 Escalon OF) showing plus speed and a solid bat capped by his 420 ft home to the deepest part of Klein Family Field. Miguel was selected as the Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Tournament
The outstanding defense, base running, and plate presence of Washington bound and RNWS MVP Braden Bishop (2012 St. Francis OF)
This year’s RNWS will definitely be remembered for the depth of the pitching. Pitcher after pitcher took the mound and impressed the over 40 college and pro scouts in attendance.
